Coming Home is a quiet exhibit about a loud subject. It begins not with combat but with the long arc of reentry — the kitchen tables, the silences, the jobs taken and left, the children born, the friends not seen for thirty years.
How the exhibit was built
Coming Home was developed in conversation with St. Louis-area Vietnam veterans, their families, and Veterans Affairs counselors. Every name and photograph in the exhibit appears with the consent of the veteran or their family. A separate sensory-friendly companion guide accompanies the gallery for visitors whose own service may be activated by the materials.
